How design review works

CABE's design review service provides free expert advice on the design quality of schemes in England that will have a significant impact on their environment.

Our flagship design review panel advises on the design quality of around 350 proposals for new developments every year. Read the latest design reviews to find out about the advice we give.

We run three specialist panels - London 2012 panel, Crossrail panel and Eco-towns panel - which use similar processes to our flagship panel. There is also a network of affiliated panels.

Our design review panels are made up of built environment experts, but the advice given is from CABE and not the individual panel members.

The design review process

  1. Choosing schemes to review
  2. Reviewing schemes
  3. Advising on schemes after review

Design review: how CABE evaluates quality in architecture and urban design explains how we evaluate the design quality of schemes.
