Urban panel

The urban panel brings together the expertise of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and English Heritage to discuss strategies and developments bringing significant change to towns and cities. Panellists stress the importance of a thorough understanding of the social and economic history of a place, and how this defines its physical character. Good practice in urban design and conservation ensure that modern developments work in harmony with a celebration of the past. Through its regular programme of visits, the panel has accumulated an understanding of best practice in this approach that it looks to share as it travels around the country.
