Olympic Park
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are one the most significant building opportunities ever seen in the UK. London 2012 will provide a platform for the very best in sustainable, inclusive and innovative architecture and landscape design. It will also help to regenerate a deprived area of London.
The Olympic Parklands will provide the central open space for the Games including the comprehensive ecological restoration of the River Lea, open lawns, woodlands, wildflower meadows and formal horticultural gardens. After 2012 the Parklands will be transformed into a network of parks and open spaces. These will serve both existing and new communities, and provide a new park of significant size and stature for London.
CABE Space has provided enabling assistance and technical advice to support the work of the Olympic Delivery Authority in four key areas:
- Urban park best practice and benchmarks
- Olympic park governance and funding
- Olympic park design and management
- Landscape procurement and delivery
The Olympic Delivery Authority will produce a learning legacy web based resource to share the knowledge and expertise that has been created during the development of the Olympics.
