The college used the grant to develop a Building Schools for the Future design think tank, an extension to the current student consultation process.
The purpose of the think tank was to investigate and analyse – what makes successful learning and teaching environments?
The group of ‘think tank’ pupils visited recently completed local Building Schools for the Future schools, critically comparing what has made them successful. Using film footage, interviews, photographs and written work, they recorded their findings and presented them back to the rest of their school. These presentations will be the catalyst for the wider school consultation.
Students developed skills team work skills, presentation skills and an appreciation about the complication of designing. As one year 10 pupil said, ‘The project will help to improve the school and make a real difference.’
