Portland College Learning Centre

A residential college for people with a range of physical and learning disabilities between the ages of sixteen and sixty.

The Centre for Information and Communications Technology is a new building that provides IT facilities for computer based courses run at the college. The centre is used as part of the college’s employment training programme that encourages and empowers disabled people to find meaningful employment.

The project shows that inclusive design is much more than meeting basic assess requirements. Conceived specifically for the different needs of the people who use it, the Centre embeds inclusive design principles to create an inspirational space that is welcoming and easy to use.
