Information boards promote the environmental credentials of the refurbished streets

Large canopy trees and planting were chosen to provide cooling and shade during the summer and to improve habitat connectivity

Plants were chosen that could tolerate dry and wet conditions, slow water flow and filter pollutants

The planters were integrated into the existing landscape, accommodating pedestrians, cyclists, car parking and street furniture.
