Church End regeneration

Brent, London

Background

Brent Council wanted the regeneration project to:

  • create a new sense of place for the centre of Church End
  • improve the connections across the road that divided the centre
  • improve the balance between private and socially rented homes
  • increase the number of larger family homes
  • increase access to jobs and training.

The aim was to build around 160 homes, 510 square metres of office space for Fortunegate Community Housing, 550 square metres for a community medical centre and an improved public realm with space for a market.

£2 million growth area funding allowed Brent Council to narrow the dual carriageway along the edge of the site, reduce the size of a neighbouring roundabout and reconfigure some bus stops. This reclaimed land was added to the site.
