Angel Waterside creates a strong sense of place through the quality of the architecture, the building materials, the landscape design and the creation of the public park. The provision of a variety of homes as well as the public park, the building design and massing respond directly to the unique opportunities and restrictions of the site.

The identifiable and distinctive design of the buildings fits in with the City Road Basin strategy. They present a continuous and active frontage towards Graham Street, reinforcing the definition of the streetscape. Building heights are reduced on the street side to five storeys up to the parapet, to match the height of the buildings opposite. .

The layout is clear and rational, making it is very easy for residents and the public to find their way around the site. The frontage is set back three metres from the road to give light and space to the public footway and provide ground floor residents with an increased level of privacy. Two routes allow the public to access the park through gates during daylight hours.

Angel Waterside creates a public amenity on the waterfront and two public access paths to this space were ‘designed into’ the building line. The designers have created high density mixed use apartments at the same time as making full public use of the potential of the site.
