Streets, parking and pedestrianisation
Admiralty Quarter’s streets are simply arranged around the housing tower and courtyard space with several access points to street level. The scheme integrates well with the urban context by continuing the existing street patterns with roads perpendicular to Queen Street.
It is pedestrian friendly as all parking is provided at street level. Residents access their homes from the car park or use one of the access points from the street.
Admiralty Quarter is close to transport hubs and allows for easy travel across the region and to London. The garden area over the car park gives the residents the chance to grow their own produce.
There are 293 parking spaces for dockyard visitors and 436 spaces for residents. The parking is hidden beneath the elevated garden with one level for residents and another for visitors to the historic dockyard. Some parking is available to the north of the site.
The scheme provides CCTV and entry phone systems and a 24-hour concierge. Public spaces and the communal garden are well lit and overlooked by the surrounding housing.
