Tarporley
Cheshire
Over a ten year period, nine small sites have been developed by a single developer and respond to both strict council requirements and a varied historic community.
Situated on the old coach road to London, Tarporley in Cheshire is a village whose medieval roots have gradually been obscured by succeeding developments. From 1990 to 2002 Bell Meadow Pulford Ltd have successfully redeveloped the fading commercial centre in this conservation area, revitalising it with mixed use buildings that retain much of the predominant Victorian and Georgian vernacular.
The range and diversity of styles, and high quality of design and materials, have created an environment that is both authentic and carefully considered across the 82 homes and seven commercial premises. This has only been possible due to the high level of positive negotiation between the Vale Royal Borough Council and the developers.
