Glasgow’s pioneering New Stobhill Hospital won the 2010 Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award.
The design by Reiach and Hall Architects was governed by the hospital’s ethos that the patient comes first.
New Stobhill Hospital opened in May 2009 and is serving around 400,000 patients a year. Robert Calderwood, Chief Executive, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: ‘Services have been designed around the needs of patients to enhance the quality of care and speed up diagnosis and treatment. The hospital has improved the patient experience by providing swifter treatment, with fewer hospital visits, and has enabled staff to work more effectively.’
