CABE commissioner elected as next RIBA President

Sunand Prasad will become President of the Royal Institute of British Architects on 1 September 2007.

Sunand Prasad has been elected as the next President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He will become President Elect on 1 September 2006 and will succeed the current President, Jack Pringle, on 1 September 2007.

Richard Simmons, CABE chief executive, has congratulated Sunand Prasad on his appointment:

'Sunand was a founding CABE commissioner and was instrumental in setting up our enabling programme which has provided assistance to hundreds of public sector clients. As a leading architect with penetrating insight into public procurement, Sunand has made an enormous contribution to CABE's education and health work. He has also chaired our skills programme. In his new role, he will bring an enormous amount to the profession and to the quality of the built environment. We wish him every success'.
