The Department for Education

02-February-2011

Welcome to the School Organisation Website

This site is for local authorities, governing bodies, promoters and parents.

It contains guidance, (for maintained, mainstream schools) on a range of subjects, including:

  • opening a new school (by competition or otherwise)
  • closing a school
  • expanding a school
  • prescribed alterations
  • changing school category
  • proposals for Trust schools

If you are eligible to register to use the Members´ Area you can also access tools to build statutory notices to make changes to schools.

We are currently experiencing intermittent problems receiving draft statutory notices for checking (sent via the Notice Builder tool), 'contact us' enquiries and requests for registration to the Members' Area, for which we apologise.  Please refer to instructions on each of those pages.
