About the project

Kentish Town Health Centre has a bold and holistic approach to delivering healthcare, drawing on different disciplines. Inspired by the stacking game of Jenga, this new three-storey structure is made up of flexible and inter-related spaces – including a GP practice, dentist, library, gym and meeting rooms – making all its users feel part of a whole.

At the heart of the building, a ‘street’ draws people in from entrances north and south to reception. Cantilevered construction has delivered double and triple heights throughout the building, with bridges, views, and dramatic graphics and signage all helping to create a stimulating environment.

‘We were trying to achieve a place for the community where not just medicine but health and art could come together,’ says Dr Roy Macgregor, a partner in the centre’s GP practice. ‘The building delivers exactly that.’

Judges' comment
