Norfolk Park Green Homes has a tenure and accommodation mix that was agreed with the local community in advance. It comprises 14 one bedroom flats, 18 two bedroom flats and 15 three bedroom houses. Ground floor flats are accessible to ensure a mix of residents from single people and young couples to families and ‘empty nesters’.
A new neighbourhood centre will be created close to the scheme as part of the wider regeneration masterplan. Shops, a doctors surgery, the local primary school and an award winning 28 hectare park are only a short walk away. Frequent local bus services and the tram network take residents to Sheffield’s city centre via the railway station and college.
Norfolk Park Green Homes has impressive environmental credentials. It uses a former brownfield site, extensive timber, sustainable urban drainage, solar hot water, high thermal efficiency and charging points for electric vehicles. Rainwater pipes feed a dewpond and through a series of swales, encouraging the evaporation and absorption of water.
Unfortunately, the planned car club has not been implemented following the collapse of the Environment Trust.
