Lacuna

Design process

The land is owned by Kent County Council and Rouse Kent Ltd. With their American background, Rouse brought their own view of design to the project which encouraged the designers to consider alternative ideals. Environ Country Homes teamed up with Sunley Estates to create Environ Sunley.

The original masterplan was overtaken by a new supplement to Government regulations: DB32: People Places and Movements, which resulted in the removal of all cul-de-sacs, and the road layout becoming more 'organic'. As the site falls within local planning guidelines the project was required to have a village centre.
