Admiralty Quarter
Character
Admiralty Quarter is built on a sensitive historic site and surrounded by a difficult social environment. There are tall buildings, over 20 storeys high, along Queen Street and the Hard, so the scheme’s tower element responds to local massing.
The scheme uses materials which have been matched to existing structures in the historic dockyard. Red brindle stock brick was used as the predominant facing material to match the dockyard wall.
Admiralty Quarter is a sensitive response to the site and creates an enclosed garden space separate from the noise and activity of the city. The housing tower acts as a marker along the Queen Street approach, sculpted to reduce its visual impact and offering incredible views across the historic dock area and the city.
