Help with searching for information on our website

This page tells you how you can find what you are looking for using Search, Advanced search, Apply online and the A-Z index.

Search

To search for a specific page, type a few descriptive words in the search box and press the Enter key or select 'Go'. The results of the search will be displayed as a list of page titles and descriptions, which will help you choose the page most relevant to you.

If you are looking for a specific document you may want to use our Advanced search.

Advanced search

Our Advanced search allows you to search only certain types of content. For example, you can choose to search only news articles or reports by ticking the corresponding boxes. You can also select the date range, if you are looking for content that has been added or updated during a particular period.

Finding an application form

If you know the name of the application form that you need, and you are sure that you are eligible to apply using that application form, you can search for it in the Apply online section by selecting the 'Forms A-Z' button.

Before you apply, we strongly recommend that you read the section of our website that is relevant to the application you wish to make. You can use the navigation on the left to find more information on how to apply to live, work or study in the UK.

A-Z index

You can also find information quickly using the A-Z index. The index lists many topics and sections of the website in alphabetical order.
