There are various job vacancies at the range of MOD locations, military establishments, bases and depots across the UK mainland, Northern Ireland and overseas.
When you become an established employee, after completion of a period in your first post, you have access to a huge internal job market - there are thousands of jobs circulated internally, including some abroad. You could change jobs, stay in a similar type of work or have a complete change in career direction. You may also be eligible to join one of the Management Development Schemes.
MOD is a leading supporter of adult work based apprenticeships. We offer a wide range of apprenticeships to eligible employees regardless of your age or level of experience. The apprenticeships lead to nationally recognised qualifications relevant to the work you are doing and will help you to gain the skills which you will need to do your job well.
We are committed to the Investors in People Standard, and we are proud to use the Employment Services symbol "Positive About Disabled People", which applies to the majority of our posts.
Employment opportunities are advertised fairly and openly using an appropriate range of media; this will vary according to the level and specialism of the post.
Non management posts with no mobility obligation are usually advertised in local press and in Job Centres. Management posts, including those with a mobility obligation, are advertised in National press and specialist journals and magazines. Posts will also be advertised on the Internet, but not exclusively so.
Our main administrative locations are London, Bristol and Bath; but it is fair to say that wherever there is a military establishment you will find MOD civilians conducting a range of roles. They include Andover, Glasgow, Liverpool and Portsmouth amongst others, as well as smaller locations in Cyprus, Germany, Gibraltar, Saudi Arabia and the USA. Please contact us for more information specific to these locations.
