10 September 20106 men, 8 weeks, 3520 miles across America - running coast to coast to raise money for charities supporting injured service men and women on both sides of the Atlantic.
On September 10th, six men from three of the world's finest military forces (the Royal Marines, British Army and the US Marine Corps) began a coast to coast run across America to raise funds for injured service men and women in both the UK and the USA. The 'Gumpathon' (named after the hit film Forrest Gump) team will cross sixteen States, four different time zones and run approximately 3530 thousand miles in 2 months.
One of the Gumpathon members is Marine Mark Ormrod, who was left with serious permanent disability following his tour of Afghanistan when he stepped on a land mine. Mark became the first triple amputee of the war, however he will be running alongside the team, as far as he can each day.
