About Stephen

My name is Stephen Hale. I work on Digital Diplomacy in the Foreign Office as the Head of Engagement. I'll explain what that means in this blog.

We're really ambitious about using digital media to help deliver foreign policy objectives. But a lot of what we want to do is still very new for the Foreign Office, so our work is as much about culture change as it is about technology. I want to use this blog to present problems, test ideas and invite comment.

My target audience is people doing - or interested in doing - innovative digital engagement or outreach work around the world. Please comment, tell me when you have something to add, or if you think what I'm saying is rubbish.

Outside work I enjoy playing the double bass, eating cheese, playing cricket and growing leeks.
