OIL & GAS UK RECOGNISE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDUSTRY'S SUPPLY CHAIN
| Date: | 02 Jun 2008 | | Details: | The search is now officially on for nominations to compete in this year's prestigious Oil & Gas UK Awards which celebrate the people and businesses currently making an exceptional contribution to our industry. Following the success of last year's awards, this year will be even bigger and better with two new award categories focusing especially on the success of the oil and gas industry's supply chain.
Nominations are now open for:
Individual Awards
The Oil & Gas UK Award for Overall Excellence, which recognises outstanding achievement by young people working in the UK offshore oil and gas industry today; The Oil & Gas UK Award for Young Technician of the Year, which recognises the vital contribution of our industry's technicians; The Oil & Gas UK Award for Mentoring, which recognises the important role mentors play in passing on their knowledge and expertise to the next generation of oil and gas workers.
New Corporate Awards
The Oil & Gas UK Joint Award for Supply Chain Business Innovation, which recognises the creation and implementation of novel contracting strategies between operator and contractor, with the potential for wider application across the industry; The Oil & Gas UK Award for Supply Chain Professional Development, which recognises the outstanding commitment made by an organisation to the professional development of its supply chain practitioners.
Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK said: "Our two new supply chain awards recognise the significance of the £17 billion world-class supply chain that has developed during four decades of production on the UK continental shelf (UKCS). A wealth of technology and expertise has been established in the UK's oil and gas supply chain and it generates over £12 billion a year supporting the UK's oil and gas production. It is time that we recognise the outstanding achievements of our supply chain, which, in a climate of high operating costs, is constantly striving to increase business efficiency."
The closing date for entries is 4 August and the winners will be announced at the Oil & Gas UK Awards dinner on 12 November 2008. All winners will receive a specially commissioned glass trophy, presented by secretary of state the Rt. Hon. John Hutton MP in front of an audience of leading industry figures. In addition, winners in the individual category will each be presented with a cheque for £500.
