About PILOT
PILOT History
The Oil & Gas Industry Task Force (OGITF) was established in recognition of the urgent need to reduce the cost base of activity on the UKCS.
OGITF's overall objective was to create a climate for the UKCS to retain its position as a pre-eminent active centre of oil & gas exploration, development and production and to keep the UK contracting and supplies industry at the leading edge in terms of overall competitiveness.
The results and recommendations of the OGITF are detailed in its report "Template for Change" launched in September 1999. This is available as a PDF document click here to view.
In order to view PDF files you will require Adobe Acrobat reader. If you do not have the plug-in, it is free and obtained from the Adobe website.
A number of independent organisations have been established as a result of the work of the OGITF:
- Leading Oil & Gas Industry Competitiveness (LOGIC) - promoting best practice throughout the supply chain;
- Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) - improving the facilitation and flow of new technology to market;
- National Training Organisation (NTO) - focusing on training activity and maximising commitment to skills;
- Licence Initiative for Trading (LIFT) - a new website designed to promote licence trading;
- Digital Energy Atlas & Library (DEAL) - an interactive map providing an index for UKCS data;
- Non-Government Organisation (NGO) Forum - to develop a shared understanding of environmental issues related to the offshore industry.
