The Billy Wright Inquiry – Preliminary Hearing and List of Issue

The Billy Wright Inquiry will hold a Preliminary Hearing on Wednesday 22nd June at 11.00am at the Europa Hotel, Great Victoria Street, Belfast to which everyone is welcome.

At the meeting the Inquiry Chairman, Lord MacLean, will make an Opening Statement setting out how the Inquiry will undertake its work.

Lord MacLean will also receive applications for Representation and Funding. Representation is a matter that will be dealt with by the Inquiry. However the Chairman has no power to grant funding for legal representation. This matter is solely in the hands of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to whom the Chairman may make recommendations.

Applications can, of course, be made, in writing addressed to Mrs Oonagh McIntosh, Secretary to the Billy Wright Inquiry, Conference House, 152, Morrison Street, The Exchange, Edinburgh, EH3 8EB in advance of the meeting.

Attached to this Press Notice is a draft List of Issues which the Inquiry anticipates will be considered within the Terms of Reference. A revised version will be issued once all comments have been considered. Comments on the List of Issues enclosed should be submitted to the Secretary to the Inquiry by Friday 15th July.

Arrangements should be made with the Secretary to the Inquiry for the filming and broadcasting of the Opening Statement.
