The Billy Wright Inquiry - Appointment of New Senior Counsel

At the Inquiry’s oral hearings on Thursday 19 June at Banbridge Court House, Co. Down, the Inquiry Chairman, Lord MacLean, announced the appointment of a new Senior Counsel to the Inquiry.

The new Senior Counsel is Mr Angus Stewart QC, a member of the Faculty of Advocates. He was called to the Scottish Bar in 1975 and took Silk in 1998.

Mr Stewart will take up office once the Inquiry has risen for its Summer Recess.

Before announcing Mr Stewart’s appointment, the Inquiry Chairman referred to the former Senior Counsel to the Inquiry, Mr Derek Batchelor QC. He paid tribute to Mr Batchelor for his contribution and thanked him for his commitment and hard work on behalf of the Inquiry over a long period.
