CASH BONUSES WHEN YOU JOIN THE ROYAL NAVY
The Royal Navy provides generous cash bonuses to new recruits for certain careers, see below for details.
If you are interested in a career as a Weapon Engineering Officer, Marine Engineering Officer or Air Engineer Officer and already hold an accredited engineering degree you may be eligible for a Golden Hello of up to £12,000. This is available to entrants who have not received a previous Armed Forces bursary, but includes those who commit to a 1 or 2 year bursary. Candidates need not necessarily have just graduated, as long as they meet the usual criteria for entry to BRNC.
If you are interested in any career in the Submarine Service, you may be eligible for a Golden Hello of up to £5,000, payable from the awarding of 'Dolphins' at the end of submarine training.You would also qualify for specialist Submariners' pay. This is also payable from the awarding of 'Dolphins', and starts at £10.91 per day at initial rate, increasing to £19.09 per day at a top rate after 15 years.*
Aircrew officers qualify for specialist flying pay. This is payable from the awarding of 'Wings' at the end of flying training and starts at £12.54 a day at initial rate, increasing to £33.81 per day at top rate after 8 years.*
