HMS Montrose

The Royal Naval warship HMS Montrose prevented a gang of suspected pirates from entering the Indian Ocean to attack merchant ships – the second counter-piracy success by the ship in two weeks.

Monday 4 October saw Montrose’s female mess host the Big Brew-Up in aid of SSAFA.

London: Earlier today after only 4 days into her latest NATO counter-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Aden, British navy warship HMS  Montrose has disrupted a group of suspected pirates believed to be about to attack a North Korean merchant vessel who was transiting the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC) in the Gulf of Aden.

Before departing on Deployment the Commanding Officer of HMS Montrose, Commander Jonathan Lett managed to make a brief but very enjoyable visit to Angus to meet the majority of the Ship’s Scottish Affiliations.

The Royal Navy warship HMS Montrose has arrived in the Gulf of Aden to take part in NATO’s counter piracy mission off the Horn of Africa and into the Somali Basin. 

Every year the Defence Maritime Logistics School (DMLS) at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall holds an awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of its students over the course of the last year.
