Protocols between Ofsted and other organisations in relation to childcare
We have revised and updated the following protocols after consultation with respective organisations. The revisions reflect the working arrangements between Ofsted and other organisations to ensure working practices are consistent with the role and responsibilities of the appropriate organisations.
The protocols are between Ofsted and:
- building control departments - updated March 2010
- local authorities with environmental health responsibility - updated April 2010
- local authorities: information on childcare providers - updated September 2009
- Local Safeguarding Children Boards (formally area child protection committees) - updated April 2010
- local authority children's services (formally director of social services) - updated May 2010
- fire and rescue authorities - updated June 2010
- Ministry of Defence - in the process of being updated; use with ‘interim’ letter
- Women's Aid Federation of England - in the process of being updated; use with ‘interim’ letter
- local authorities: information, advice and training - in the process of being updated; use with ‘interim’ letter.
