NHS Connecting for Health – the website contains a wide variety of health-related case studies and gives links to national and regional support teams. This website is the definitive place to go for information about all the national IT projects. It will help if words like Healthspace or Secondary User Service don’t mean much to you.

Whole System Demonstrator Action Network (WSDAN) is an online resource on telecare, telehealth and the management of long-term conditions. The Network is run by The King’s Fund and DH Care Networks and is funded by the Department of Health.

Map of Medicine provides a visualisation of the ideal, evidence-based journey for common and important conditions. In the NHS local communities can develop their own maps to describe their preferred way of working.

Information Prescriptions On-line Resource has many examples of information templates, prescribing procedures, patient leaflets etc.

The Health Equipment Supplies magazine has a website and free email newsletter and is a good source of information about medical technologies and diagnostics.

Wireless Healthcare writes reports and research including an interesting free report, ‘101 things to do with a mobile phone in healthcare’.

The Institute’s Armchair Involvement resource shows different approaches to engage patients using technology.
Keeping up to date
The Smart Healthcare website and newsletter is a good source of news about healthcare IT in the UK. The service is run by Kable, a company that does research for the public sector.

The E-health Insider website sends a weekly newsletter to subscribers with news about the latest developments with the national IT programme and products aimed at the NHS.

British Computing Society (www.bcs.org) has a Health Informatics Forum and runs an annual healthcare IT conference in the spring, with a large free exhibition. It typically has good speakers from industry, NHS trusts and NHS Connecting for Health.

NHS Live is the NHS Institute's free, national learning network which aims to stimulate innovation from the NHS frontline, to encourage innovative partnerships and networks, and to create mechanisms for the diffusion and adoption of innovation.

eSpace is a community based online collaboration tool set up by NHS Connecting For Health, dedicated to improving healthcare and wellness by sharing knowledge and experiences of technology enabled change. It uses the power of the web to make it easier for NHS professionals to work together whenever and wherever they need to. eSpace brings improved information sharing, enhanced communications and supports new and existing networks and communities.
