LLE programme details

Those who are successful at the application stage of the Local Leader of Education Programme, need to then attend a four-day development programme.  Following successful completion of the programme, local leaders of education (LLEs) can be deployed to work with other schools. Ongoing support is also offered via programme handbooks and the local authority. The stages are:

Stage Details
Pre-application briefing session National College briefing for headteachers and other stakeholders to introduce them to the programme model (illustrated below).
Application An application and selection process, co-ordinated by the College, including standard application criteria and collection of references.
LLE development A four-day development programme, consisting of a single day, a two-day residential and a fourth day, all held locally.
Ongoing support

A handbook for LLEs that provides information about the framework, role and contractual arrangements clarification, arrangements for quality assurance and opportunities for further development and networking events.

A local authority LLE handbook for each local authority that includes the overview information provided to LLEs, clarification about the role of the local authority and guidance on deployment, monitoring LLEs and reporting on outcomes.

Support from an allocated National College consultant to work with the local authority on the options around the model and deployment of the LLEs. The amount of support provided by a consultant will be agreed between parties.
