About the further education and skills site
The further education (FE) and skills website aims to offer information advice and guidance on the strategic use of ICT within a post-16 learning environment and across institutional boundaries with the aim of supporting learner achievement.
Our challenge is to embed positive ICT practice across all elements of activity in the sector, from procurement to assessment. To deliver this, Becta works in partnership with funding, inspection and advisory agency partners from across the FE sector, as well as with leaders and managers of individual organisations and services.
This website introduces the strategies for achieving our aims, and provides access to key information, advice and guidance that underpin their delivery. An important channel between Becta and the FE and skills sector, the website offers you opportunities to engage with, and contribute to, national strategic development.
Who is the site aimed at?
The site is primarily aimed at leaders and managers in the FE and Skills sector, also known as the post-16, or learning and skills sector. The sector incorporates 14-19 learning, 16-18 learning, adult learning, community learning, work based learning, offender learning and local authorities.
Finding your way around
You can navigate to the main sections of the FE and Skills website using the left-hand menu. Here you can also find how to get involved with our work and view publications, news and events. Each section page highlights the most recent or relevant information in the section.
Section libraries contain all of the resources – for example articles, key documents and weblinks – relevant to the section. You can browse the whole library or a sub-category to help you find the information most relevant to you. A filter function is also available.
The Get involved area shows how you can take part in Becta’s work in the FE and skills sector. Here you will find all current discussions and consultations and can sign up to online communities. Relevant events can be found here, along with information about award schemes. Becta's consultations with the FE and skills sector will also be promoted here.
This site will continue to evolve. If you have any comments, or if there is anything specific that you would like us to add, please use the feedback link that we have included on every page.
