Definition:
The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) is a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity that undertakes around 200 research projects every year that cover all sectors of education. Employing over 260 staff, their offices are in Slough, York and Swansea. Their website provides briefings on their research activity as well as links to free or commercially available research reports.

The NFER also has a subscription publication called Practical Research for Education-Online. The site also contains news items and a free alerting service that can be configured to individual areas of interest.
