'Prejudice and Pride' is a valuable resource pack comprising a DVD and a research report . The 28 page report presents the findings of a study commissioned by the Cambridgeshire Traveller Implementation Group and published by the Ormiston Children and Families Trust.
The study which set out to explore the experiences of Travellers provides a voice for them in relation to their personal goals and barriers to achievement and involved a total of sixty 11-19 year olds. The study raises important issues such as the lack of adequate accommodation which continues to be a barrier to achievement and a lack of cultural awareness in schools that young Travellers would like to see addressed.
The DVD is an excellent resource for enabling the voices of Traveller children and young people to be heard and should be used to raise trainees' awareness of some important issues.
