Career development framework

The career development framework (CDF) for school support staff was developed working closely with members of the school workforce development board (SWDB) and the beacon councils for transforming the school workforce in 2005. The CDF is updated yearly to show the current qualifications and national training programmes by support staff role commonly used by local authorities and schools.

This information is grouped into five categories or work areas. Get help identifying the work area you are interested in.

Closely related roles are grouped together into work areas to show opportunities for lateral transition (role conversion, multi-skilling and/or career changes) as well as progression within a job role.
