EMAS4SUCCESS, 2008

While this site has been developed to facilitate the induction, assessment and integration of children new to English into schools in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, it is of use anywhere. The advice and resources offered on the site are presented in a very practical and teacher-friendly style and will be of particular use to practising teachers new to working with bilingual children as well as to student and trainee teachers.  The site is aimed at helping schools with all aspects of EMA work with a particular emphasis on supporting schools with lower numbers and more isolated minority ethnic pupils.

The site offers language descriptors, strategies for teachers, guidance on drawing up individual plans for pupils new to English, an assessment guide, teaching resources and games (including a number in Polish), links to sites that provide further resources and information about events relevant to refugees and asylum seekers.
