The payment date is the day it goes into bank accounts (day 3 of BACS)
We have received a number of calls from our providers who have not received their BACS remittance advice for the week ending 17 September. We can confirm that the BACS payments themselves haven’t been delayed. We apologise for any inconvenience and will provide you with an update when we have identified the cause of the problem.

We process applications and bills as quickly as we can - the vast majority within our published targets.
To help you know when to contact us with queries, the table below shows the oldest date of receipt of bills currently being worked on in each category. We aim to update this each week.
Any work received earlier than the date shown will already have been processed. Work received later than the date shown may not have been dealt with.
Once processing is complete and your bill is ready for payment, it takes up to eight working days for the money to reach your account if you are paid by BACS.
Please wait until this time has elapsed before contacting our Customer Service Team – this will help us to keep processing all your work more quickly.

We notify you as soon as we have processed your application or bill. It normally takes 3 working days for you to receive this. The notification will tell you if:
- your application has been accepted
- payment by cheque is enclosed or is about to be made by BACS
- we need further information from you
- we need further information from HMCS or CPS about your claim – eg the number of pages of prosecution evidence.
Payment will be delayed until we receive all the further information we need.
It’s important to send your application or bill to the right office as processing and payment may be delayed if you don’t. We have specialist processing teams across England and Wales, handling a large number of transactions each week. To find the right team, use the interactive guide ‘where work is processed’ under Documents on the right of this page. For new civil application forms see the civil forms page.
