Childcare provider satisfaction survey 2005
The findings from this year's survey are very positive for Ofsted. Ofsted scores highly both in terms of how it handles new registrations and how it carries out inspections of childcare providers.

Citizenship in secondary schools: evidence from Ofsted inspections (2003/04)
Increasingly, schools are taking National Curriculum citizenship seriously and establishing comprehensive programmes. As yet, however, pupils' achievement and the quality of teaching compare unfavourably with established subjects and there is little that is graded very good. In one in four schools, provision is unsatisfactory. There are growing numbers of expert teachers, and most teaching is satisfactory, but citizenship is generally less well taught where tutors are involved.

Could they do even better?
This report identifies the need for teachers to be aware of the specific linguistic needs of advanced bilingual learners. Detailed case studies illustrate the difference that effective intervention, addressing specific linguistic features, can make to the development of the writing skills of advanced bilingual learners.

Creating opportunity for young people
This report evaluates the Department for Education and Skills' grant scheme for National Voluntary Youth Organisations, which ran from April 2002 to March 2005. The report evaluates the effectiveness of strategies designed to tackle social exclusion and to raise young people's achievement; the quality of practice in youth work and the curriculum; and the contribution made by leadership and management to the standards achieved. It includes case studies and examples of good practice to illustrate the breadth and quality of the work seen.
