The CAA's web site accessibility commitment
The UK Civil Aviation Authority is committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to the widest possible range of people.
Unless stated within a link title, the CAA site applies the following standard:
As a part of the CAA's eBusiness Programme, the site is being upgraded to ensure it meets the Double-A standard of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, with the content and styling passing W3C validity checks.
The most significant change will be to split the information within the site from the way it is presented on screen. This will enable us to provide both a "graphical" and "text-only" version of the site, with the text-only version being more appropriate for people using assistive technologies wishing to have greater control over the site style, and for smaller handheld devices where a simpler layout is easier to use. The new home page is representative of the changes proposed for the rest of the site.
Our full Website Accessibility Policy will be developed as a part of the upgrade project.
The BBC site "My Web, My Way" (opens in new window) provides tools and understanding to enable you to make the most of the world-wide web whatever your ability or disability. We recommend referring to this site as it explains the many ways you can change your browser, computer, keyboard and mouse settings to make the web more accessible to you.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the accessibility of this site, or if you experience difficulty using any part of it, please contact us at: webmaster@caa.co.uk
As a part of our upgrade project, we will be adding a "text-only" version of the whole site. Customers using browsing devices with either limited graphical capability or with accessibility featured enabled may wish to use the "text-only" version. This not only simplfies the layout of the page, it also adds descriptive text which may have been implicit within the design of the "graphical" version such as navigation menus.
