This July, traders have to come to terms with changes to the rules covering dangerous goods and letters of credit. However, life will hopefully become easier thanks to new versions of a number of SITPRO’s most popular guides.
SITPRO’s Dangerous Goods Note
SITPRO’s new edition of the Dangerous Goods Note Completion Guide addresses the changed procedures that come into force on 1 July 2007 in order to comply with new dangerous goods regulations. However, there is good news for traders as SITPRO has accommodated these regulations without having to redesign the front of the SITPRO Dangerous Goods Note itself, which has not changed since 1999 (although it is important to be aware of the revised guidance on the reverse of newly printed forms).
The new guide and details of the new reverse of the form can be found on the SITPRO website at www.sitpro.org.uk/trade/compguides.html.
Letters of Credit (UCP600)
As reported in past issues of SITPRO News, the International Chamber of Commerce’s new rules for using letters of credit (L/C) also come into force on 1 July 2007. As a result SITPRO has revised all its guides on the subject, which are available at www.sitpro.org.uk/trade/lettcred.html.
Five revised guides are available. Letters of Credit: An Introduction provides an overview of the issues surrounding letters of credit and the new rules, while Letters of Credit: Best Practice recommends the best procedures at every stage when using a L/C. These guides support SITPRO’s set of three Letters of Credit Checklists and Guides, each of which is targeted at a different player in the sales transaction (Exporter, Importer and Export Sales Executive).
The full revised rules (UCP600) can be ordered from the ICC at www.iccbookshop.com.
Additional Guides
All SITPRO’s other guides have also been reviewed, revised where necessary and re-branded and are available at www.sitpro.org.uk/trade. There is also a brand new guide Feed Your Growing Business (pdf 1.92MB
), produced in association with GLE oneLondon, as a follow-up to the very successful Roadmap to Exporting Success. This new guide provides checklists and useful contacts for anyone setting up a food business, including information on how to expand your business internationally.
