What functional skills mean for me

Whether you're a practitioner, an exams officer or you're from an awarding organisation, the following resources may help you.

For awarding organisations

If you are an awarding organisation, visit the Ofqual website to view the regulatory criteria. You may also like to read our Guidance and support for awarding organisations: preparing functional skills qualifications for Ofqual accreditation.

For exams officers

If you are an exams officer, take a look at our new administering functional skills qualifications – information for exams officers for 2010/11.

For practitioners in schools, colleges and the workplace

Schools offering functional skills qualifications should visit the National Strategies website for further resources, tools and exercises. Colleges and workplace learning providers should contact the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) enquiry line on 024 7662 7953 for functional skills workforce support. Resources, tools and activities to support the planning and delivery of functional skills can be found on the Excellence Gateway website.
