Assessing the Diploma
Diplomas make use of new settings and learning scenarios, and a range of assessment methods.
These qualifications involve both internal and external assessment, and require close working between the centres that make up a consortium.
The Diploma involves a significant amount of internal assessment, which is completed under controlled conditions. Component awarding bodies (CABs) define requirements and controls for setting, taking and marking tasks, and learners' evidence is externally moderated. This ensures rigour and fairness, and gives people confidence in the authenticity of evidence.
The Diploma also involves some external assessment, where CABs set tasks directly, specify task-taking conditions and mark the work.
