Headquarters energy use

Planet Earth

We are committed to meeting the Prime Minister’s environmental and sustainability pledges. He has committed that carbon emissions from central government will be cut by 10% by May 2011.

On 30 September, the Prime Minister announced a competition between government departments to save carbon emissions on the government estate. That data is now being compared across departments and you can see how we are getting on.

We are also publishing figures of our real-time energy consumption on a 'live' energy data page.

We are one of the first in government to provide public access to its live energy data. You can view energy consumption, cost and carbon dioxide emissions over different periods of time. We are also providing the raw energy consumption data, which is compiled once every 24 hours.
