Welcome to the Department for Work and Pensions newsroom

The newsroom provides users of the site with an overview of the Department's current top stories.

The newsroom also provides journalists with information on all DWP issues, such as:

  • Employment, including the New Deal and Labour Market Statistics, and corporate issues.
  • Pensions and older people, including pension reform.
  • CSA, health and safety, and benefits.
  • Welfare reform, poverty and disability.

About the press office

The DWP London Press Office only handles calls from the national media and can be contacted on 020 3267 5144.

Operating from 9am-6pm Monday-Friday, the national press office is divided into four teams responsible for answering questions on specific areas of policy (as detailed above). 

Regional media outlets should contact the relevant regional press office

A duty press officer is on call as part of an after-hours service for journalists only. Please contact 076 59 108 883.
