Summary

This document acknowledges that while there has been rapid improvements in most deprived areas, worklessness remains persistent in some local communities. As part of a concerted drive to get people off welfare and into work the Government has decided to establish a new Working Neighbourhoods Fund. The new fund will replace Communities and Local Government's Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and incorporates the Department for Work and Pension's Deprived Areas FundĀ  to create a single fund. This paper sets out the rationale for this change.
