Publications
ESRC produce a range of publications for a variety of audiences. Our publications are available on the web and in print. Publications can either be viewed online, downloaded as PDF files, or print versions can be ordered from the ESRC office. Some corporate publications are published regularly such as our magazine Society Now and our newsletter eNews, while others like Britain Today are produced annually. We also produce a range of research publications highlighting and publicising social sciences and ESRC research.
ESRC magazines and newsletters
Society Now is the new regular ESRC magazine focusing on raising awareness of our research and its impact. Aimed at a wide range of readers, it offers a readable, concise overview of current issues concerning society. Society Now is published three times a year - spring, summer and early autumn. Britain in 2009 is an annual newsstand magazine showcasing the diversity of ESRC-funded research around the state of the nation. It offers a concise analysis of research and topical issues concerning Britain today. eNews is the email newsletter for the ESRC community, highlighting funding opportunities, corporate news and community updates.
Previous magazines
The Edge magazine May 1999 - March 2008 highlighted the latest and most topical research by the UK's leading social scientists. It has been replaced by the Society Now magazine. Social Sciences was the regular newsletter of the ESRC community between 1989-2008. Published three times a year, it provided information about ESRC policies, new research and findings from completed research. It was replaced spring 2008 by the eNews newsletter. The Scene was a 2006 magazine showcasing ESRC research and highlighting key issues for development and innovation in Scotland.
ESRC Corporate Publications
Annual reports, strategic plans and guidelines for ESRC-related activities. Information on the Council's activities during the previous financial year including an analysis of research and training expenditure and research portfolio. ESRC's funding priorities and activity outline over the Spending Review period. The ESRC Strategic Plan 2009-2014 sets out key priorities over the next years. A guide produced to help researchers engage with the media and communicate their work to the wider community.
ESRC Research Publications
The ESRC has produced a range of research publications highlighting and publicising social sciences research.
Public Policy Seminar Publications
In recognition of the Public Policy Seminars supported and facilitated by the ESRC, a number of publications have been produced to consolidate the research findings and policy implications. These publications are based around themes and cover a wide range of topics: from Well-being for Children and Young People to Devolution and Economic Policy in the UK. These publications are readily available and organised chronologically. We encourage you to make use of these valuable resources, so hard copies are available on request.
