A new Independent Aid Watchdog for DFID

Following the 2010 General Election, the new Secretary of State for International Development,  Andrew Mitchell, announced his plans (June 3, 2010), to create an Independent Aid Watchdog, which is expected to become operational from early 2011.

In his first major speech as Development Secretary, Mr Mitchell outlined key steps taken towards creating an Independent Aid Watchdog, which will be designed to help deliver value for money spent on aid, and to strengthen accountability and transaparency on behalf of the UK taxpayer.

IACDI will continue to advise DFID on its evaluation work until the Watchdog is in place.
