Civil liberties gone mad, in the eyes of the law no matter what you do you will unless your child is put up for adoption have responsibilty for your child.

This means you can abuse children be prosecuted and still have parental responsibilty, you can murder somebody, rape somebody and god knows what else but it would never be removed.

This means a child or a partner who has endured years of abuse still has to seek permission to take there child out of the country by somebody who is in prison, the only steps you can have put in place are no contact orders and prohibitive steps order, even then if you were to leave the country for longer than a month you would have to still seek permission from the other parent who could be more of a danger to the childs well being.

Your liberties are taken away when you goto prison and i feel if it is a long term sentence parental responsibility should be removed especially if the imprisoned parent is not released until after the child is of adult age.

Why the contribution is important

I think this is important as these court cases are costing the system millions in legal aid,

Bored prisoners harrassing ex partners whom they have already abused for numerous years, and feel no matter what they do they will never be able to escape.

How can somebody be responsible for a child if they are not deemed responsible enough for there own lives.  Parental responsibilty should only be removed from those serving long term sentences or those of continual domestic violence, i feel this is more proof that those who are a danger to society have more rights than those who are not.

It would probably help a lot of men/women get out of violent/mentally abusive relationships as i am sure many know no matter what they do, the partner will always find them via school reports.

I am sure there are many more reasons why this ridiculous law be removed

I have been married to a Psychopath who has shown no interest in his children he is currently serving a life sentence for murder. I recently decided to split from him. Due to this he is now very interested in the children and it is all relative to keeping his manipulation on me in tact. Even now i am somehow in his clutches while he sits in his cell plotting his next scheme to try and control me, I am now in the process of going to court to put in a no contact order, this will cost the system thousands in legal aid due to his so called civil liberties, even though he killed another man in cold blood and i know if he is ever released he would kill me and whomever i would be dating upon his release.

I feel let down by the system and was very shocked to find he still has these rights.

Unfortunately this section is about restoring, with an emphasis on restoring, rather than denying civil liberties.

I feel this would restore the civil liberties of the victims rather than that of serious and dangerous offenders. I understand everybody should have rights, but it is time the rights of law abiding citizens should be of a higher priority to those who have been locked up because they are a danger to society

I understand for those who are not in this situation or have not lived through it, that it would appear a bit weak, However this would save a lot of money on the national debt, as it would reduce legal aid. It would also protect those vulnerable in society.

This law gives those rights who do not deserve them, ie Vanessa George; If her husband wanted to go abroad for longer than a month or even move abroad, he would have to ask for permission if he wanted to take the children with him. This would have to be done through the courts meaning Vanessa George would need legal aid costing the countries coffers thousands. There are hundreds of cases like this up and down the country millions and putting children and ex partners whom are trying to escape at risk of further abuse or even in the comment above at risk of murder.

I find Murder or children at risk to be very far from weak, but maybe we are looking at this from different standpoints!

this is a stupid idea people in prison are not out to harass ex partners i agree that all pedos and rapists should have there rights to see there children taken away from them. but what about ppl who are innocent of the crimes there accused of surly they would fall foul of such a one sided law this would indded give that one parent the power to say and do as she or he pleases about the imprisoned persons.
what if the parent who is in charge of the child is lieing about there imprisoned ex partner it would mean that the imprisoned persons would never be able to prove that they had never done any thing to harm the the lieing other half

If somebody is on a long term prison sentence for murder, rape and other such crimesthen i cannot see how they would be any good for a child?

This is not aimed at somebody who is in prison short term for a few minor offences, this is aimed at those prisoners who are deemed such a danger to society that they are locked away long term, surely if the justice system sees someone as such a risk they are put on a life sentence then surely they are a risk to a child/children.
