Prisoners and those under liscence should be excluded from some of the protections of the human righst act

Why the contribution is important

Prison seems to be a soft affair in this modern society, prisoners often have more comfort and things to occupy their time than most hard work people. If prisons regressed slightly and removed some of the softer options now avaliable then people may be less inclined to commit crime. And why should prisoners have the right to bring legal challenges under the human rights act? What about the victims? were their human rights not violated? The next thing we will see is that a prisoner is trying to say prison is aginst his human rights.

How do you square your idea with the fact that crime is at it's lowest level in 29 years?

The European Convention on Human Rights takes account of prison as punishment for crime. So it would not be possible for a inmate to challenge his imprisonment under it.

Human Rights are limited for prisoners already. Given that these are the rights you have by virtue of being a human being, we've already compromised as far as is reasonable. I really doubt there are criminals out there who believe that prison is a pleasant experience. Perhaps you should arrange to visit one?
