Clinical audit

NHS Direct is committed to improving the services we provide to our users. The primary aim of the Clinical Audit Team is to ensure that NHS Direct is actively reviewing and, where necessary, improving the care we provide to our patients and users.

All clinical audit activity conducted within the organisation follows the principles for 'best practice in clinical audit' endorsed by NICE (the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) and the Care Quality Commission (formerly the Healthcare Commission).

More information can be found at the NICE audit advice pages.
