Wounds

  • Burns and scalds

Burns are injuries to the skin caused by direct contact with heat or flame.  Scalds are caused by steam or hot or boiling water.

The most effective way of treating a burn or scald is to place the area under cool running water for 15 minutes.

  • Head injury in children

In the UK, 40-50% of people who have head injuries are children.

Children may be more likely to have a minor head injury because they have high energy levels and little sense of danger.
